How to care for your vintage leather and suede

Here's your go to guide for looking after vintage leather and suede! Regardless of age, all leather and suede items will deteriorate after time and with improper care, so we've compiled our top tips (alongside some of our gorgeous stock) to ensure your goods maintain their quality and groove!

  • Store leather away from direct sunlight to avoid fading or discolouration

  • If your leather and suede get wet, allow it to dry naturally. Do not use heated dryers, as this can warp and crack the leather

  • Leather and suede need good ventilation, so keep it out of plastic packaging, and away from tightly packed clothing.

  • If you're worried about dust, scuffing and damage, use a cotton cover. Use wax based products to help your leather breathe.

  • Regularly use a dry cloth to wipe away any dust or dirt from your leather jacket. Use a leather cleaner with a soft cloth if you need to remove harsher dirt and dust.

  • For suede items, using a soft bristled brush to remove the debris and dirt is best. Do not use hard bristles, as these can damage the suede.

  • Leather needs to be conditioned over time to help prevent dryness and cracking. Leather wipes are an easy to find and affordable option, and contain natural oils that moisturise.
